Me and my kitties thank you guys for creating such a wonderful product!  Have a great week!

Thank you so much!  If it wasn't for Kittycheck maintenance kit, we would never know that our 1 year old cat had a problem and could have died if we didn't discover it so early.  We ran the first test blood indicator for 3 days, and some of the oval chips turned blue.  We took our kitty to see our vet, and he found worms in his urinary tract.  The rest was easy, and now we keep our cat indoors. Thank you again.

  Max and friends

OK, I've tried this product and thought I'd let you know the results.  Here's how I used it.  Since I have 2 cats, I isolated Max to collect a urine sample using the kit provided by my vet.  I siphoned some off into 2 separate margarine tubs, leaving the majority for the vet to test.  I placed a few pieces (kind of looks like oval shaped pieces of litmus paper) of the blood indicator in 1 of my samples, and a few pieces of "crystal/infection" indicator in the other.  After several minutes both showed no change, indicating a negative response for blood or infection.  So far so good. Now for the vet's analysis.  It came out clean as a whistle (finally!!  YaHoo!) So my results matched hers.  Talked to the vet about this product.  She wasn't excited about it, which I suspect has something to do with not being able to charge me 30.00 a whack everytime I suspect Max's UTI is returning.  Here are her reasons:

  1. The blood indicator is actually checking for iron, not blood. So if you have water that has a high iron content the results can be thrown off, giving a false positive. (Better than a false negative I think).
  2. The "crystal/infection" indicator is actually checking for PH level, not actual bacteria or crystals. This again leaves the door open to unreliable results. The test assumes that the presence of a particular Ph indicates crystals may be forming.
  3. With multiple cats, it is difficult to determine the source of the problem. (I solved that by isolating for a sample).
  4. Since the product directs you to sprinkle in the litter box, you have to make sure the cat pees on the product, difficult to do. (Again, I solved this by taking a sample and putting the product in the sample. Could also use a dropper to place sample directly on the indicator.)

So, all in all, I will continue to use this product as an "early warning system" and will follow up with my vet when indicated.  I travel a lot for business and this will give me great peace of mind when leaving town for more than a few days.

        Our response to Jenny:

Hi Jenny! Thank you for taking your time in doing scientific evaluation of KittyCheck versus lab testing by your veterinarian!  Your study confirms that KittyCheck works and can give you peace of mind if you are on the road a lot or have a busy schedule.  Your method of testing is OK as long as you are not mixing different tests together in one container.  We cannot guarantee the test chip stability for more than 7 days when the KittyCheck package is torn open.  KittyCheck 1 Blood Indicator is a urine test based on a well established chemistry (widely used in human diagnostics) reformulated for feline litter environment by our scientific staff. As far as iron detection in urine, it's quite impossible, as there is no free iron in urine.  Therefore, you will not get false positives with KittyCheck 1 Blood Indicator.
